McKees Rocks Home Invasion Suspect Arrested

MCKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- A man police believe is responsible for a home invasion in McKees Rocks has been arrested.

According to police, the suspect, 22-year-old Cameron Russell, stole a high-powered firearm and hand grenades.

Police arrested him during a traffic stop in Franklin Park. They knew he had a girlfriend who lives in that area, so authorities were on alert.

"I could just tell from the first time I met him he wasn't a very good character," Parker Gresh said.

Gresh, an Iraq and Afghanistan Marine veteran, would be proven right when McKees Rocks police claim Russell and another individual broke into his Gardner Avenue home around 7 p.m. Monday.

They were looking for Gresh's Bushmaster M-4 assault-style rifle.

"I think he was stalking my house out because he broke in about an hour after I was at work and did it then," Gresh said.

Russell met Parker via a mutual acquaintance and visited. Parker showed the rifle off to him before he found out Russell was a convicted drug dealer and bad news altogether.

"He asked me if I wanted to rob people with him. I said, 'Are you nuts?'" Gresh said.

Russell allegedly broke in overnight, put a gun to Gresh's fiancé's head and asked for the gun. However, he got away with a lot more that the firearm.

"It's our understanding that not only was the rifle was taken but eight loaded magazines and at least one fragmentation grenade and at least one smoke grenade," McKees Rocks Police Chief Robert Cifrulak said.

Russell is facing charges of robbery, burglary, theft and making terroristic threats.
