Drivetime with Vinnie Richichi Road Test: 2012 Volkswagen Beetle
It is one of the most recognizable automobiles ever produced. It was the symbol of a generation back in the 60's. Cramming as many college kids into one was national sport but that was then and this is now. When VW reprised the Beetle in the 90's after a long absence in the USA (they still made them in Mexico) it was kind of a novelty. Cute but if you didn't remember the old one would you want the new one? Yes was the answer and they sold a ton of them...mostly to women. VW decided they wanted to take the bug in a new direction..a car a guy could love..a car born in the baby boom generation that would still be relevant in the ipad generation. Did they hit the mark?
