1 Dead In Armstrong Co. Coal Truck Crash

PLUM CREEK TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- An Indiana County man is dead after his pickup truck collided with a large coal truck in Armstrong County this morning.

According to officials, the crash happened at 9:15 a.m. on State Route 422 between Cherry Run Road and Muskrat Slide Road in Plum Creek Township.

The Armstrong County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 25-year-old Lee Sturgeon of Starford, Pa. He was pronounced dead at the scene around 10 a.m.

Authorities say Sturgeon was headed west when he traveled onto the shoulder of the road, hit the guardrail, and then crossed back over the center line.

The pickup truck then collided with the tri-axle truck, causing it to overturn and spill its load all over the roadway.

Officials have identified the driver of the coal truck as 58-year-old Dennis Reefer of Rural Valley, Pa. There's been no word on whether he was hurt in the crash.
