Colbert Addresses Wallace, Other Topics At Combine

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert addressed several topics Thursday at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

The most newsworthy of subjects was the restricted free agent status of wide receiver Mike Wallace. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Colbert is confident in the team's ability to re-sign Wallace, and he says the team wants Wallace to finish his career in Pittsburgh.

Colbert also said Thursday that he expects nose tackle Casey Hampton back in 2012, despite the fact he's going through the third ACL surgery of his career this offseason.

Other items:

  • Colbert is optimistic the team will re-sign quarterbacks Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch to back up Ben Roethlisberger.
  • Center Maurkice Pouncey is scheduled for offseason surgery to hopefully prevent lingering problems from back-to-back seasons of high-ankle sprains.
