Free Pancake Day At IHOP Benefits Children's Hospital

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Children's Hospital and the Children's Miracle Network have once again teamed up with IHOP restaurants.

It's been said there's no such thing as a free lunch, but that's not so on National Pancake Day.

A short stack of pancakes is free Tuesday at IHOP and visitors can say thank you with a donation to Children's Hospital.

"I was there yesterday. My son got hurt and we had to take him to the hospital and he said it was one of the best experiences he had," Malik Muhammad said.

To celebrate his birthday and say thank you to Children's Hospital he started his day at IHOP.

"We see kids from not only here locally, but across the state. Something like this really helps to educate the public about what we do at Children's and how important it is to be philanthropic and give to something like Children's Hospital," Amy Razem with Children's Hospital said.

Dale Carney isn't a big fan of mornings.

"Usually I am in bed until 8:15 a.m., so we got up early this morning," Carney said.

His wife worked at Children's for 41 years, but he's been there as a dad, too.

"One time we took them to another emergency room which was okay. But, they didn't have the rapport with the kids that Children's does. There's a difference between the Children's emergency room and a regular hospital's emergency room," Carney said,

Regardless of how you choose to decorate or down your free short stack this is an area that is long on support for Children's Hospital.
