Victim In Armored Truck Heist Recently Joined Company

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Neighbors of an armored car security guard are shocked and saddened by his murder.

Michael Haines, 31, lived in East McKeesport. He only worked for GARDA for about three months.

Investigators say his co-worker, 22-year-old Ken Konias, Jr., shot him in the back of the head Tuesday. Konias allegedly stole more than $2 million.

Michael Dang, Haines' neighbor, said Haines was a nice guy.

"He was a very nice guy," he said. "He talked to me, helped me a lot."

Haines graduated from Woodland Hills High School and attended Robert Morris University. He also worked at a nearby Eat 'N Park for a period of time.
