2 Firefighters Injured In Latest Jeannette Blaze
JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- Two firefighters were injured battling a fire in Jeannette.
The fire broke out just before midnight at a building on Lowry Avenue near Vine Street.
The firefighters ran their hose to the entrance, but when they got inside they ran into trouble.
The floor collapsed, sending veteran firefighters Tony Kottelich and Ryan Highlands plummeting into the basement.
The two fell at least six feet. Fellow firefighters pulled them to safety.
A man living in the building was not home at the time, but his cat died in the blaze.
A state police fire marshal is investigating, but it's believed to be accidental in nature.
This fire is not related to the recent rash of arsons in Jeannette, but city officials say the fires have been exhausting to the fire department.
