WILKINSBURG (KDKA) – Two people were killed in an accident while trying to elude police in Wilkinsburg early Monday morning.

According to police, Zone 5 officers spotted a stolen Audi S6 around 12:45 a.m. in Homewood and attempted to pull the vehicle over.

At that time, the driver sped off and police pursued for only a short time before losing sight of the car.

Officers soon discovered the car had crashed near the intersection of Penn Avenue and Montier Street in Wilkinsburg.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as 19-year-old Orin Chatman.

A female passenger was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 1:30 a.m.

The Audi is believed to have been carjacked on the South Side at gunpoint and reported stolen on Feb. 25.
