Amish Boy Accidentally Shoots Brother In Indiana Co.

SOUTH MAHONING TWP. (KDKA) -- State police are investigating after an Amish boy accidentally shot his brother in the head with a BB gun.

It happened on Johnston Road in South Mahoning Township, Indiana County.

An 11-year-old boy was shooting at some birds on a fence when the bullet accidentally hit his 2-year-old brother in the side of the head.

The younger boy was rushed to Indiana Regional Medical Center and then flown to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

The BB remains lodged in his head, but the injury is not reported to be life-threatening.

The Daisy Brand BB gun is a legal gun for children to use on their own property. It is not intended to be a lethal weapon.

The investigation continues, but no charges are expected.

Police say the boy is lucky his injuries weren't worse.
