Funeral Plans Announced For Western Psych Shooting Victim

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Funeral plans have been announced for the man who was fatally wounded during Thursday's shooting at Western Psych in Oakland.

Michael Schaab, 25, was a therapist at the facility. A family spokesperson said Schaab was returning to the building from lunch when he was shot and killed.

Visitation has been set for Sunday and Monday at the Bash-Nied Funeral Home in Delmont. The hours will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the St. John Baptist de la Salle Church, also in Delmont. The burial will be private.

Schaab and his fiancé were planning to get married next March. They met at Western Psych, and she is presently a nurse at UPMC Presbyterian.

"He was a terrific kid the kind of guy you would like to see your daughter bring home," Tom Fitzgerald, a family spokeperson, said. "Wonderful guy, well educated, a good man."

Schaab's sister, Nancy, was 26 when she was shot to death in October of 2010.
