Despres, Strait Sent Back To Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The Pittsburgh Penguins sent defensemen Simon Despres and Brian Strait back down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League after Sunday's 5-2 win against Boston.

Despres and Strait had been recalled to fill voids left by Deryk Engelland (undisclosed), Paul Martin (illness) and Kris Letang (concussion symptoms).

Engelland returned Sunday and Strait was scratched.

Demoting Despres and Strait could mean team officials are optimistic Martin and/or Letang will be available Thursday when the Penguins visit the New York Rangers. However, no statement was released on their health Sunday.
