Letang and Martin Close To Returning For Penguins

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Sidney Crosby might not be the only big name returning to the Penguins lineup Thursday when they visit the New York Rangers.

Defensemen Kris Letang and Paul Martin could both return as well.

Letang was cleared for full practice Tuesday and participated with teammates. He has been out since Feb. 29 with concussion symptoms suffered after taking a hit to the upper body/head region at Dallas.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma listed Letang as "day-to-day" after Tuesday's practice. Letang said he is symptom-free and is using practices this week to gauge when he will be able to return to the lineup.

"I felt pretty good," Letang said. "To get back on the ice with my teammates is part of the little progression and we'll go from there."

Martin missed the last two games because of illness. He said he's not quite back to 100 percent but said he expects to play against the Rangers.

"I'm not feeling that great, but it's good to be back at practice," Martin said. "I'll be ready by Thursday."
