Lab-Pit Bull Mix Put Down After Biting 3 People

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Three people were hurt in a dog attack in Pittsburgh's Crafton Heights neighborhood.

It happened at the Mountain View Apartments on Crucible Street Friday evening.

A 6-year-old boy was bitten by a lab-pit bull mix named Cola. The security guard for the apartment complex and a Pittsburgh police officer were also bitten.

The young boy was taken to Children's Hospital and will likely need stitches.

A Pittsburgh police officer eventually used a taser on the dog and shot it three times, according to witnesses.

The owner of the dog, who did not want to be identified, was distraught over the way the officer killed the dog.

"She started running around barking because there's like five cops there and they started tasing her and then after they tased her a couple times they decided to shoot her," the owner said.

The owner did admit the dog was running free. Police say the owner will probably face a citation for violating the city's leash law.

A neighbor told KDKA-TV that Cola was involved in incidents with police before.
