PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Cornerback William Gay has signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, leaving Pittsburgh — an organization he’s been with since being drafted in the fifth round in 2007.
Gay became a starter in 2009 after Bryant McFadden signed with Arizona. He was the team’s nickel corner when McFadden returned in 2010 and then earned the starting spot back in 2011.
He is now the seventh veteran to leave the organization this offseason. Along with Gay, Hines Ward, James Farrior, Arnaz Battle, Chris Hoke, Aaron Smith and McFadden are no longer Steelers.
Keenan Lewis, Cortez Allen and Curtis Brown will likely battle for Gay’s spot in the defensive backfield this summer at training camp.
