1 Dead In Washington Co. Accident

NOTTINGHAM TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A Monday morning accident in Washington County has left one man dead.

According to police, the single-vehicle accident happened on Route 136 in Nottingham Township around 7:20 a.m.

The vehicle was traveling west when the driver lost control, crossed the center line and entered a hillside on the eastbound side of the road. At that time, the vehicle struck a utility pole and a couple of trees.

The driver of the vehicle, 71-year-old Carl Thayer, of Elizabeth, was pronounced dead at the scene.

After the accident, the road was closed in both directions between Preston and Lusk Roads, but has since reopened.
