Bucs: Pirates Reassign Four Players, Send Morton To DL

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The Pirates reassigned pitcher Ryota Igarashi, utility players Nick Evans and Jake Fox and catcher Eric Fryer to minor league camp Thursday.

Pirates general manager Neal Huntington also announced that starting pitcher Charlie Morton will start the season on the 15-day disabled list. Morton is still recovering from offseason hip surgery that took place in October. The organization wants him to get more opportunities to build up his arm and pitch count before joining the major league club.

Starter A.J. Burnett, who is recovering from a broken orbital bone, will not be placed on the 60-day DL, Huntington said.
