Local Gas Prices Continue To Climb

WEXFORD (KDKA) -- Local gas prices are on their way back up. The local average is $3.89.

The local wholesale price of gas took a considerable jump earlier this week.

"One of our suppliers went up over 13 cents a gallon … in one day," Don Bowers with Superior Petroleum said.

While a lot more stations will be selling $4 gasoline, Bowers says some stations are trying to hold out at $3.99 and not breaking even in an effort to not alienate customers on this holiday weekend.

But that may not be the case later on.

"Well short term I think before Memorial Day, I think we could see $5 a gallon," Bowers said.

And that means drivers' wallets will take another hit.

"It really makes it hard with the bills and everything especially with the holiday coming," Terrae Kelly, of New Kensington, said.

"Honestly it's unfortunate but there's nothing we can do about it," George Hubbard, of Lower Burrell, said.
