1 Arrested After Wilmerding Fatal Shooting

WILMERDING (KDKA) - One person has been arrested in connection with a fatal Friday night shooting in Wilmerding.

Witnesses told police that 21-year old Seth Dillon came to a house on Lydia Street Friday night to show off a gun. According to police, that's where he fired the shot that killed 18-year-old Shawn Januck.

One of the witnesses said he unloaded the weapon and that Dillon was alone in the kitchen with Januck when the shot was fired.

'That's ridiculous with the kids having guns. I mean, they shouldn't even be permitted to have a gun," Januck's mother, Joyce, said.

"Tragedy. You see it every day on the news, the first two or three stories are shootings. I guess I'm stereotyped that his would never happen to me, but it did," Januck's father, Jack Mathias, said.

Joyce Januck and Mathias are coping with the tragic death of a son, which they believe should never have happened.

Neither Dillon or Januck live at the residence where the shooting happened. They were there visiting friends and drinking alcohol.

After Januck looked at the gun, Dillon told police that he picked the weapon up, it discharged and he blacked out.

Januck fell on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head.

"I don't have anything bad to say about Seth Dillon. I just want justice," Januck's sister, Nicole Mathias said.

"Nobody should be going through what I'm going through right now. I just lost my best friend," Joyce Januck said.

According to the criminal complaint, Dilon wanted witnesses to tell police that someone came into the house and shot Januck.

Dillon is being held at the Allegheny County Jail on charges of carrying an illegal weapon and criminal homicide.
