PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Closing arguments were heard today in the juvenile court trial for the boy accused in the shooting death of his father’s pregnant fiancée.

Testimony ended Wednesday afternoon in the Jordan Brown trial, and closing arguments took about one hour on Thursday morning.

Brown was just 11-years-old when he was charged in connection with the death of 26-year-old Kenzie Houk and her unborn child in Lawrence County. Brown is now 14.

“We have an 11-year-old child who is wrongfully accused of a double homicide of the woman that he loved as his mother, taken from his bed at three in the morning, placed in the Lawrence County Jail for a week with adults, then later placed at a detention center for the last 37 months,” Chris Brown, Jordan’s father, said, “all based on a theory – a theory that he shot through a blanket in John Bongivengo’s words, ‘to muffle the sound.’

“That blanket – that blanket never came into the prosecution’s case, was never presented by the prosecution because the blanket [came] back clean,” Brown said.

Jordan Brown’s father, who believes in his son’s innocence, did not offer a theory on who killed Kenzie Houk.

“Jordan loved Kenzie. There was no animosity in our family. There’s been a lot of talk in the last 37 months, and we’ve chose to take the high road and not speak to the media to try to eliminate a lot of that,” said Brown. “Jordan loved Kenzie; still does, and he misses her. Like we said, it’s in the judge’s hands and hopefully the judge does the right thing here in finding Jordan not guilty, not responsible.”

The victim’s family stuck to their guns that police found the person who killed Kenzie Houk three years ago.

“I just hope justice is served,” Dorothy Burns, the victim’s grandmother, said. “That’s all. I want closure.”

The judge is expected to issue a ruling at 2 p.m. on Friday.
