Machine Gun, Flame Thrower Found Inside Brighton Heights House

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police removed firearms, a flamethrower and several hand grenades from a house in Brighton Heights.

A neighbor called police after noticing mail was piling up on John Grabowski's porch at the corner of Etola Street and Simen Avenue.

When police went inside, they found the weapons.

Grabowski has been away from home for several months. He's been in a nursing home in New Castle since February and expects to be there another month because of a foot infection.

Grabowski told KDKA-TV he collected the weapons years ago and sold some of them. As for his neighbor, he said he wondered if the person was really concerned or wanting to cause trouble.

Pittsburgh police say the neighbor did the right thing by calling them.

Police removed the firearms from the house for safekeeping and to make sure they were obtained legally.
