Victim’s Wife Dies After Washington Co. Crash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Another person has died following a crash Saturday afternoon on Route 19 in Washington County.

According to the Observer-Reporter, 60-year-old Barbara Hymes Burns has passed away from her injuries at Allegheny General Hospital.

The other victim, 61-year-old Donald Burns, Barbara’s husband, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Saturday afternoon in South Strabane Township.

According to authorities, witnesses reported that it appeared as though Donald Burns may have had some sort of medical event.

Authorities say Burns’ wife tried to control the van, but it ended up hitting another vehicle. Both were ejected from the van.

The person in the second vehicle, identified as 63-year-old Richard Balmer is being treated for injuries at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, according to the Observer-Reporter.
