Neighbor's 911 Call Prevents Burglary In Spring Garden

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two suspected burglars who had plans to break into a pharmacy in the Spring Garden neighborhood Monday night were caught before they committed the crime.

Darnell Peak and Evan Ezell are charged with criminal conspiracy, among other things.

The two were in a stolen Chevy van that pulled up in the rear of Waltmire pharmacy of Spring Garden Avenue. Peak and Ezell were reportedly planning to use a ladder and a rope to break in through the roof, according to pharmacy owner Don Waltmire.

The police showed up quickly because a neighbor became suspicious after seeing the Chevy cruising the neighborhood without its headlights on.

Waltmire told KDKA-TV news Monday night that Peak and Ezell didn't have a chance to put up the ladder because police arrived on the scene so quickly.

He praises the police and a neighbor for calling 911.
