4-1-Zoo: Pitt Grabs Defensive End Commit

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- The 2013 Pitt football recruiting class grew to three players Saturday, as Wilkes-Barre defensive end Shakir Soto committed to the program.

Soto -- 6-foot-3, 235 pounds -- is unranked by most recruiting services. He recorded 97 tackles and eight sacks in his sophomore season, according to MaxPres.com.

Soto improved in his junior season with 114 tackles, nine sacks and an interception.

He had other offers from Boston College, Bowling Green, Kent State, Maryland, Temple and Virginia.

Soto is the first defensive recruit in Pitt's 2013 class. He joins tight end Scott Orndoff and offensive lineman Aaron Reese.
