Cause Of 2-Alarm House Fire In Homewood Under Investigation

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Firefighters were called to a two-alarm fire at a house converted into apartments in Homewood Wednesday morning.

Flames were seen coming from the roof of a home in the 500-block of Oakwood Street.

According to the landlord, a 10-year-old girl came over to alert him about the fire. He reported that the little girl also said she had allegedly been playing with a candle and accidentally caught her pillow on fire.

However, the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Firefighters say five people were inside when the fire broke out, but everyone was able to get out safely.

Authorities say one firefighter is being treated for a second-degree burn on his hand.

The total damage has been estimated at $70,000.
