STOWE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — Police are searching for a suspect after a man was found with a gunshot wound overnight in Stowe Township.

Authorities say a Stowe Township police officer found the victim, who is believed to be a jitney driver, in an SUV sitting in the middle of the road.

Police were then called to the scene at Island Avenue and Tunnel Way around 3 a.m.

According to Allegheny County police, the victim was giving a ride to another person “when that person accosted him with a handgun, then shot him.”

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Allegheny County police say he is listed in stable condition.

Officials searched the area for suspects.

KDKA’s Ross Guidotti reports that police detained one person for questioning overnight, but he was later released.

Police describe the suspect as an African American male possibly in his late teens or early-20s with a medium complexion. He was wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt with a green and white logo on the front.

Anyone with information on the case is being asked to call the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit at 412-473-1300.
