'Mad Scientist' Held For Court In Fayette Co.

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) - The man who calls himself a "mad scientist" was in Fayette County court Tuesday morning.

Jerry Wingrove, 37, is accused of roaming Uniontown Hospital, touching equipment and even shoving a nurse.

On Tuesday, Wingrove was held for court on charges stemming from the incident.

"Mad Scientist wanted to do spirituality – wanted to touch a couple computers …," he told KDKA-TV on Tuesday as he left the magistrate's office.

According to Uniontown Hospital Police, Wingrove was walking around the second floor of the hospital when a nurse saw him looking at a computer and asked him to leave.

Wingrove allegedly shoved the nurse and started to walk down a patient hallway. The nurse told police she was in fear of Wingrove and worried that he might hurt someone.

He maintains that he did nothing wrong.

Wingrove was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, defiant trespass and harassment. He was released on his own recognizance.
