WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) – The Washington County District Attorney is seeking the death penalty for 22-year-Jordan Clemons, who is charged with slashing the throat of his ex-girlfriend.

The body of 21-year-old Karissa Kunco was found in a field in Washington County back in January.

While Clemons was inside the court house for his formal arraignment, outside family and friends of the victim who called themselves “Karissa’s Army” rallied outside.

They told KDKA’s Brenda Waters they wanted to bring attention to domestic violence.

“I don’t have a message for Jordan. My family and I are very ecstatic that the state is seeking the death penalty. However, he [pleaded] not guilty today,” Kunco’s sister, Jamie Khalil said. “I would have had a little more respect if he maybe would have taken responsibility for his actions and pleaded guilty today.”

According to police, Clemons allegedly slit her throat and dumped her naked body in a wooded area in Washington County.

Police also said Clemons stole her credit card and used it to by an Xbox video game system.

Clemons was arrested initially on an outstanding warrant for burglary, theft and simple assault for an incident in Canonsburg that happened several days before Kunco’s murder.

Clemons, who pleaded not guilty, remains in the Washington County Jail without bond.

The DA expects him to go to trial by mid-fall.
