Shooting, Stabbing Investigated In Uniontown

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- Police are still trying to put together exactly what happened in a Uniontown bar that led to a shooting and stabbing.

Virdell Banks, Jr., is facing attempted homicide, aggravated assault and related charges after shooting another man last night outside of the bar.

Banks and at least six others were drinking at J&B's Bar and Grille at the corner of Searights Avenue and Dunlap Street when they got into an argument and took it outside.

"Apparently there's been some ongoing trouble between the two actors and that's what sparked the fight," Uniontown Police Detective Donald Gmitter said.

Justin Fletcher, the shooting victim, told police he was standing outside the bar when he was punched and fell to the ground.

He says a group of five men began kicking him. When Fletcher stood up, Banks began firing at him as he ran away.

A second victim was stabbed twice in the chest.

Both victims were taken to Uniontown Hospital. The gunshot victim was transferred to Ruby Memorial. The stabbing victim was treated and released.

A warrant has been issued for Virdell Banks, but he has not yet turned himself in to police. No one has been charged in connection with the stabbing.
