PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Hazmat crews had to be called in late Thursday night to help with the cleanup after an accident along a stretch of Interstate 70 in Westmoreland County.

The crash, involving a tractor trailer, happened around 10 p.m. near Smithton.

The westbound lanes were closed for several hours near the exit for Route 51. They have since been reopened.

Officials say the tractor trailer caught fire and fuel spilled onto the roadway.

The driver wasn’t seriously hurt.
