Coroner's Office, Police Investigate Death Of IUP Student

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Authorities are investigating the death of a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

According to the Indiana County Coroner's Office, 24-year-old Daniel Engler of New Kensington was found dead in his Wallwork Hall dorm room just after midnight Sunday.

The coroner says it appeared that Engler had been dead for more than 12 hours.

The Coroner's Office also reports that they and campus police found prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia and alcohol at the scene.

Authorities say an autopsy has been done, but "no definitive cause of death was found."

However, the coroner says "the residence hall is a secure facility and no evidence of foul play or forcible intrusion of the property was found."

The investigation continues.
