Brighton Heights Man Recounts Home Invasion

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A couple from Brighton Heights says the door to their bedroom flew open and home invaders walked in.

Larry Hopkins says he asked who was there, and no one answered. He asked again and someone turned on the lights and pointed a gun at him and told him to stay in bed.

Hopkins says the intruders ran out after his wife managed to throw a pillow at the gunman and then began dialing 911.

They couple heard one shot once the intruders were outside, but no one was hurt.

Hopkins believes they got in through an unlocked kitchen window.

The invasion happened Tuesday night, and then Wednesday afternoon three people were arrested for breaking into a vacant home just a few doors down on Bonaventure Way.

Some of those suspects jumped from a back porch roof to a neighboring one in an effort to escape.

Despite the coincidence, police don't believe the two incidents are related.
