Overnight Pursuit Ends In Crash In Lawrence County

ELLWOOD CITY (KDKA) -- A woman is facing charges following an overnight police pursuit that ended in a crash in Lawrence County.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. along Route 65 between Ellwood City and Wayne Township.

According to authorities, police pulled over the woman who was wanted for a half dozen warrants, but she sped away from the traffic stop in her van.

After a short chase, she crashed into a utility pole on Woodside Avenue, which is part of Route 65.

The pole was sheared in the crash and the car caught fire.

The driver was taken to the hospital to be checked for a possible ankle injury.
