Woman Rescued Three Days After Crashing Her Van

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A 41-year-old woman, Veronica McFoy, was behind the wheel of her van on Monday – on her way to a neighborhood store – when she lost control, went over a 30-foot embankment and landed in an area overgrown with thick vegetation.

It was so thick it made her vehicle invisible to anyone driving by.

She was trapped for nearly three days, surviving on soda she found in the van along with rainwater.

She finally managed to crawl out yesterday and flagged down cars passing by.

"She knocked out a window out of the back door, crawled out and crawled up back on the main road," her husband, Wilford McFoy said.

McFoy's husband says he found out she was alive from a neighbor.

"When I left the cancer center yesterday my neighbor called me and said, 'They found your wife.' I said, 'Where is she at?' She said she wrecked down the road."

He said his first thought was that his wife was dead.

"She's laying there on a stretcher, her neck in a brace, IV's and all that stuff in there," he said.

"She said, 'I love you,' and I said, 'I love you, too.'"
