Man In Custody After Brief Carrick Standoff

CARRICK (KDKA) – A man is in custody after barricading himself inside of a home in Carrick Saturday morning.

According to police, officers were called to the 2000-block of Brownsville Road around 11:30 a.m. after several shots were fired.

A man allegedly fired the shots in an attempt to hit his girlfriend. One of the rounds struck a vehicle and shattered the rear window. The same round continued on and struck another vehicle.

The woman was able to get away safely, but the man barricaded himself inside and the SWAT team surrounded the home.

Police were able to take the man into custody around 1 p.m.

Neighbors say they're tired of the violence.

"Carrick has turned into a tougher, tougher neighborhood. We hear shots every night," said Joe Perko, a neighbor. "Very sad, very sad. We're here to live and keep up the neighborhood, and unfortunately, some people are bringing the neighborhood down."

There's no word yet on the identity of the man taken into custody.
