Car Strikes Garden Tractor In South Beaver

SOUTH BEAVER (KDKA) – One person was injured in an accident involving a lawn tractor and a car in Beaver County Tuesday morning.

The accident happened in South Beaver near the intersection of Georgetown and Sportsman Streets.

Thomas Weisenberger, 47, of East Palestine, Ohio, was cutting grass on his grandfather's property in South Beaver Township.

Officials believe Weisenberger came down a small grade to turn around in the road and go back up the hill when he was hit by a car traveling on the wrong side of the road.

Weisenberger was thrown into the air on impact and landed in the windshield of the vehicle.

"We're just investigating the accident right now," South Beaver Police Chief Dan McLean said. "We speculate that the gentleman driving the tractor may have spun around on the road while he was cutting grass but we're early in the investigation."

Weisenberger was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. There is no word on his condition.
