PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, plenty of people will be firing up their grills.

If you are in the market for a gas grill, Consumer Reports put a number of grills to the test – from expensive grills to more modestly priced grills.

For months, staffers are Consumer Reports have been grilling up fish and chicken and steaks.

Taking the top spot, the highest scoring grill is Vermont Castings’ Signature Series VCS322SSP mid-sized grill. It’s $1,000.

But you don’t have to spend a fortune on a grill.

Among the top 15 are four grills under $250. One of them is the Char-Broil Classic 463211512 from Home Depot. It costs $200.

In testing grills, Consumer Reports looked at overall performance and features, cooking evenness at low and high heat, construction materials, ease of use, propensity of flare ups and price.
