Fire Damages Lawrenceville House

LAWRENCEVILLE(KDKA) – Firefighters battled a blaze in Lawrenceville Sunday morning.

According to officials at the scene, the fire started around 10 a.m. in the 3400-block of Ligonier Street.

"It just happened so fast," said Foretta Moore, the resident. "I just thank God that me and my grandkids and my family got out of there because it just happened so fast. The whole room was gone in minutes."

The top of the home is now just a charred shell.

Moore says she doesn't know how the fire started, but she had to scramble to save her grandson who was upstairs.

"When I got up there, he was frozen in fear. I told him to come on and he wouldn't move, so I had to run into the room and grab him and run out," said Moore. "I don't know what happened he said that the Playstation, the controller got real hot; he threw it down and when he looked around the whole room was on fire."

Moore says she doesn't have renter's insurance.

There is still no word on what caused the fire at the two-and-a-half story building.
