Man Falls Through Roof Of Former Shenango China Plant

NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – A New Castle man is lucky to be alive.

He was rescued after he apparently fell through the roof of the burned out former Shenango China plant.

The unidentified man screamed in pain as rescue crews placed him in the back of an ambulance. It also appeared as if he was under the influence.

The man was combative and had to be handcuffed to the stretcher.

According to rescue crews, it appears as if he is homeless. It also appears as if his injuries are not life-threatening.

Nearly 50 firefighters from several different companies fought a fire at the shuttered factory Friday. There have been fires at the facility which has been closed for decades.

The fire last week along with several others at the facility is believed to be arson. The most recent fire before that was last June.

There is no power to the building. There is a ceramic business in the back that was not affected.

Meantime, rescue crews say it looks like the man may have been wandering in the burned out building when he fell through the roof and injured himself.

It looks like the man will face trespassing charges.
