Purse Snatchers Drag 75-Year-Old Woman

ELRAMA (KDKA) -- A 75-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital after purse snatchers in a car dragged her along a road, according to neighbors.

Neighbors say it appeared that Joyce Sanders, of Elrama, Washington County, was walking home from a convenience store when a car approached.

Neighbor Diane Powell says the car door opened and someone grabbed a hold of Sanders' purse. But Powell wouldn't let go of the purse, according to Powell.

Powell says Sanders was dragged about five or six feet before the people in the car drove off with Sanders' purse.

Sanders had a swollen eye and bloody lip, according to neighbors who rushed over to help.

She was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, according to police.

Police are looking for a white man and white woman who were in a gold Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable. The car was last seen driving south on Route 837.

If you know something that could help in the investigation, you're asked to call the Southwest Regional Police at 724-929-8484.
