3 Arrested After Firing At Police In McKeesport

MCKEESPORT (KDKA) - Three people were arrested after allegedly firing shots at a McKeesport Police officer early Thursday morning.

According to police, Dana Hall of Homewood is responsible for attempting to shoot a police officer around 3:45 a.m. near Highland Avenue in McKeesport.

"When they arrived at the location, the participants in the crime had left the area. The officers were initiating their investigation when one of the officers and a civilian was fired upon from about a block away," Allegheny County Police Det. Andrew Schurman said.

Fortunately, the bullets missed both the officer and civilian.

At that time, Hall and two accomplices attempted to flee the area in a car, but they didn't get too far.

KDKA-TV's Ross Guidotti: Why didn't you guys just leave? Why did you stay there?

Hall: My keys were in the trunk.

Guidotti: You locked them in the trunk?

Hall: Yes

Multiple sources close to the investigation said Hall was in a rush to leave the scene and threw the alleged weapon in the trunk along with the keys.

"The people responsible for shooting at the officer were located and taken into custody," Det. Schurman said.

The trio was allegedly trying to steal tires from a nearby vehicle, which prompted the initial call to police.

"They were trying to steal wheels from a car parked at a service garage," Det. Schurman said.

Another man from Homewood and a woman from East Liberty were also arrested. Their names have not been released at this time.

Hall had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault and weapons charges.

All three will be charged in this incident by the end of the day.
