CLAIRTON (KDKA) — A local principal was rushed to the hospital after breaking up a fight between students.

Clairton Elementary School principal Dr. Magi Berger stepped in while three high school students were fighting.

The students had a half day and were being dismissed at 11:30 a.m. A group of high school students broke into a fight outside the elementary school.

Dr. Berger ran outside to protect the younger students and became injured during the melee. She was treated for her injuries at the hospital and released.

Clairton police are investigating the fight.

Commencement exercises for Clairton High School were held Friday evening.
