'Dragon's Den' Debuts At Sandcastle

WEST HOMESTEAD (KDKA) -- Just in time for a warm weekend, the new Dragon's Den slide at Sandcastle is ready for riders. Lifeguards tested the water park's first new slide in a decade.

Rafters emerge from a 45-foot tube into a swirling maelstrom. The spin around the dragon leads to a second tube and a splash landing at the bottom.

"We've had our state inspections and everything looks great," says general manager Damian Dondero. "We had our test running done, and we're excited to be opening up Saturday morning."

It's a long walk up to the top of the platform for a quick slide down. But first time denizens of the Dragons' Den say it's worth every step.

One rafter compared it with the water park's other 14 slides. "It goes a lot faster, where the other ones more straightforward more straight down."

The public will try it out for themselves when Sandcastle opens full-time Saturday morning.
