NEW CASTLE (KDKA) – A man was arrested after a brief police chase in Lawrence Co. Thursday night.

According to police, the chase started on Route 224 in Mahoning Township around 10 p.m.

It started after police were notified about a pickup truck driving erratically in the eastbound lanes.

Union Township Police attempted to stop the truck, but were unsuccessful. New Castle Police then deployed stop sticks, which took out the truck’s tires.

However, the truck kept on going. The chase ended when the truck crashed into the back of a Shenango Police cruiser.

The officer in the vehicle is believed to be okay.

The suspect’s name has not been released and police are trying to determine why the man refused to pull over.

It is not known if the man was injured in the crash, but charges are pending.
