PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Incoming Pitt freshman point guard James Robinson was named to the USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team Monday.

Robinson is one of 12 members selected to the team. The team travels to Brazil for the 2012 FIBA Americas Under-18 championship June 16-20.

Team USA is participating in Group A with Brazil, Mexico and the Virgin Islands. Group B is comprised of Argentina, Canada, Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Play opens June 16 for Team USA against the Virgin Islands, followed by games against Mexico and Brazil the next two days. Group play determines seeding for the semifinal and final.

The top four finishing teams qualify for the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship for Men.
