2 Injured In Monongahela River Boating Accident

FORWARD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Two people were flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after a Wave Runner and a boat collided on the Monongahela River Saturday night.

According to officials at the scene, the accident happened near the Castaway Keys Marina in Forward Township around 8 p.m.

A man and woman believed to be in their 20s were flown to UPMC Mercy Hospital with serious injuries. Both were on the Wave Runner at the time of the accident.

"He was in and out, like in and out of consciousness. He kind of like responded to me and stuff. I felt like he was alright," Anthony Pleasant, a friend, said. "I didn't see what happened. Just one of my buddies said, 'I think something bad happened.'"

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is currently investigating the cause of the accident.

The people on the boat were not hurt.
