PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Winger Jaromir Jagr plans to test free agency for the second straight year, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

Jagr’s agent, Petr Svoboda, indicated weeks ago that he and the Philadelphia Flyers were negotiating a deal to re-sign Jagr.

If this report is true, that tune has changed.

Jagr tested free agency last season as he contemplated a return to the NHL after spending three years playing in the KHL in Russia. After negotiating with several franchises, one of which being Pittsburgh, he signed with Philadelphia.

Penguins owner Mario Lemieux reached out to Jagr last summer, eventually offering him a one-year, $2-million deal that he turned down to sign with Philadelphia for $3.2 million.

Jagr’s bargaining last year became known as “Jagr Watch” and it appears we’re in for its second installment.

It’s widely believed Pittsburgh has no interest in pursuing Jagr in free agency.

Jagr totaled 54 points (19 goals, 35 assists) with the Flyers last season in 73 games. He added a goal and seven assists in the playoffs.
