Sisters Deliver Babies On Same Day At Magee

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The love between sisters can be a volatile brew at times, but the special bond that exists between these siblings couldn't be clearer at Magee-Womens Hospital.

"We're all best friends and have another sister who's not here," says Lauren Kosalec.

That other sister would be Ashley. She's the proud aunt.

But 30-year-old Kristi Mellinger was scheduled for a C-Section Tuesday. Her younger sister, Lauren Kosalec, 26, wasn't supposed to deliver until July, but both babies arrived within hours of each other.

Lauren recalls,"We passed each other in the hallway as I was going into labor and she was in recovery, so I got to say Hi!"

Kendall Mellinger was delivered at 7:51 a.m. Her cousin, Cameron Kosalec, arrived at 2:48 p.m. He came a month early so he could make this photo -op.

"I think I was in denial about contractions," says his mom.

But this "sister act" gets even better. Becky Kosalec, 28, gave birth here on June 8th. We guess that maybe her daughter, Aubrey, just didn't get the memo.

"We thought, 'Space it out for grandma,'" says Becky, "One at a time, two days, recover, next one, recover."

Lauren and Kristi live in West Deer. Becky is in Shaler.

It's been said that "In the cookies of life, sisters are the chocolate chips." This is a rare triple treat.
