Crews Battle Fire At Church In Carnegie
CARNEGIE (KDKA) -- Fire crews were called to a church in Carnegie.
A roof fire was reported just after noon at the Carnegie United Methodist Church in the 500-block of Washington Avenue.
The fire was inside the roof where work had been going on.
"Thanks be to God that everything is okay," Pastor Joe Yurko said. "No one was hurt. So everything worked out really well."
Firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof to douse the flames.
"It's all voided, empty space up there," Crafton Fire Chief Mike Crown said. "If it gets into the rafters and the joyce work, it could be trouble."
The fire marshal is investigating. The damage isn't severe.
The church will have services on Sunday.
