Police Seek Corrections Center Escapee

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - State police are looking for a man who escaped from a corrections facility on Saturday.

According to state police, 24-year-old Kenneth Gray signed out of the Renewal Community Corrections Center in Pittsburgh to seek medical treatment.

However, he never sought treatment.

"They did release him to go to Mercy for whatever reason, and he did not show up, and did not turn up to the Renewal Center," said Trooper Robin Mungo, of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Gray is currently serving time for aggravated assault, and police said he has an extensive criminal past.

His last known address is on the city's North Side.

"If someone is willing to walk away from their sentence, you don't know what they're capable of doing, especially when they know we're coming out for them because he won't go back to the Renewal Center, he'll go back to prison," said Trooper Mungo.

She says once Gray is caught, he'll serve out the rest of his aggravated assault sentence and then face charges for escaping from the corrections center.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police at 412-787-2000.
