Ray Searage & Pitching Staff Are Having Some Fun

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) - Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage--a Fan Morning Show Favorite--joined the guys on Tuesday to talk about his staff.

Jeff Karstens got knocked around a bit in his first start since coming back from injury. Ray says that the outcome was not what they would want, but his velocity maintained through all five innings, and his command was pretty good.

Jeff will have to continue to shake off the rust and he will be okay.

The staff is going to be falling into a routine with no days off until the All-Star Game, but Ray tells us that they all have their own little habits and superstitions that they will fall into.

A.J. Burnett is the one that Ray tells us has the most regimented routine, constantly using the phrase, "I'm workin' here," when people try to interrupt.

Ray tells us how important it is that the team is having fun, playing pranks, joking around, and staying loose. He says that it helps the team stay together and remain competitive.
